HALLOWEEN
We ended our day with a Halloween party. Each tribe decorated their own tablecloth with Halloween words and pictures. We chowed down on some disgusting and grotesque food--pirate eyes, zombie skin, witch fingers, mummy flesh, full moons, brain juice and vampire blood.

INSIDE OUT AND BACKWARDS DAY

WACKY WEDNESDAY! This month we celebrated "Inside Out and Backwards Day". We wore our clothes inside out and backwards. We had a fun Wacky Wednesday Celebration in the gym. We did many backwards activities too. We learned about palindromes, counted backwards, wrote backwards and read backwards stories.Friday, October 3, 2008
HOMECOMING PARADE

This week we had some visitors from Monona Grove High School. Some famous athletes, band members and other students held a homecoming parade for us in the hallway. It was great for us to get to see these great role models. It was great for the high school students to see the smiles on the kids' faces too! Go MG!

CURTIS PRAIRIE

Last week we took a field trip to Curtis Prairie. Before the trip, we talked about the things that we thought we would see at a prairie. The 49ers had a lot of great ideas. Some kids remembered their trip to Aldo Leopold in 1st grade. Aldo Leopold has a prairie area too. Our tour guides showed us around the prairie and taught us a lot about the plants and animals that live there. We got to see, touch, hear and smell all sorts of neat things. Did you know that Curtis Prairie is the oldest restored prairie in the world?!?! Cool! When we got back to school, we shared many of the interesting things that we learned on our trip.Wednesday, October 1, 2008
